Ocean School
Inspiring a new class of activists

How do you take a raw, rebellious brand and reimagine it for children, classrooms and curious young minds? For Surfers Against Sewage's Ocean School, we built a visual language that bridges activism and education, blending hand-cut textures, playful typography and expressive illustration into a system inspired by school book doodles and chunky crayon scribbles, to engage, inspire and empower children to connect with the ocean and the world around them.

Ocean School's resources had grown organically, with different writers, different designers, and different moments in time. Our team read through everything, restructured the content, filled in the blanks, and implemented a simple strategy to organise the final activities into three clear pathways: Connect, Explore, Protect. A gentle guide through the material, helping teachers and pupils build varied beach trip activity plans.

Senior Education Officer

I always enjoy working with Will—he just gets it. In fact, he understood our vision for Ocean School better than we did at the time. From start to finish, the whole process was a genuine joy.

He brings incredible enthusiasm, passion, and style to his work, guiding you through the journey in a way that feels both inspiring and seamless. He truly brought Ocean School to life and played a key role in shaping its success.

His vision, execution, and communication are all exceptional, and I’d welcome the opportunity to work with him again.
